Special Exhibition 30.10.2016 - 23.04.2017
The first-and to this very day-race car with all wheel drive at Le Mans is a Porsche. The type 961 is based on the 959. As early as in January 1986, the high performance sports car has proven it's mettle in terms of reliability and speed at the Paris-Dakar rallye. Now the rolling laboratory with the type name 961 competes in the hardest enduranc race in the world. The car is equipped with from all wheel drive to register turbo charging of the 2.85 liter engine up to the new six speed gaerbox. The engineers win a class victory as well as numerous insights for serial production development. The car on exhibit competes in the 24 hour race in 1987 but unfortunately drops out due to an accident in the 18th hour.
